Why does my dryer heat but take forever?
Airflow is usually the culprit. Lint packs the vent run, the hood flap sticks, or the hose behind the dryer is crushed against the wall. Heat builds instead of moving, so clothes stay damp. We clear the path and confirm the exhaust temperature is right.
Can a power surge really kill a dryer?
Yes. Storm season here takes out control boards and relays on electronic models. The dryer may go dead, ignore buttons, or start a cycle and quit. We test the board and the incoming power before replacing anything, since a bad outlet leg mimics the same thing.
Is a gas dryer safe to keep using if it smells odd?
Stop using it and call. A hot or scorched smell often means lint near the burner or a restricted vent. If you smell gas, shut the supply valve, leave the house, and contact your gas utility first. Then reach us.
Should I repair or replace an older dryer?
Depends on the failure. Belts, rollers, thermostats, and fuses are common wear parts on machines that otherwise run fine. A cracked drum or a burnt main harness on a very old unit is a different conversation. We tell you which one you have.
