Dryer Repair — Book a Visit Today
A dryer quits in ways you can hear. The drum thumps. The heat goes missing and towels come out damp and warm. Sometimes a storm rolls through, the power blinks, and the control board never wakes back up. Around here we also fight clay dust and lint packed tight in long vent runs, which chokes airflow and cooks parts early. On a visit, we pull the dryer out, check the vent, test the heat circuit, thermostats, and thermal fuse, spin the drum by hand to feel rollers and belt, then read the controls. We explain what failed in plain words before anything gets ordered. Call us and tell us what you hear and smell.

The dryer symptoms we hear most
- It runs but the clothes stay wet No heat: thermal fuse, heating element, thermostat, or gas valve coils
- Something's squealing back there Worn drum rollers, idler pulley, or a glazed belt
- Won't start at all after the power flickered Surge-damaged control board, door switch, or start switch
- Takes three cycles to dry one load Blocked vent, crushed transition hose, or lint-packed blower housing
- Smells hot, almost scorched Lint buildup near the element, restricted airflow, or a failing thermostat
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Make sure the door latches firmly, since a loose door switch stops most dryers cold.
- 2Peek behind the machine for a crushed or kinked vent hose.
- 3Check both breakers for an electric dryer, because one tripped leg gives you tumble with no heat.
- 4Pull the lint screen, rinse it, and see if air pushes out the outside vent hood while the dryer runs.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Buzzing, leaking, no heat. Plain talk is fine. We ask a few questions and set a visit window.
- Step 2
We come look
A technician arrives in the window, pulls the unit out, and tests it. No guessing games. We explain what failed and why, in words that make sense on your back porch.
- Step 3
We fix it
Common parts ride with us, so many repairs finish the same visit. If a part must be ordered, we tell you plainly and schedule the return before we leave your driveway.

Dryer Repair — quick answers
Why does my dryer heat but take forever?
Airflow is usually the culprit. Lint packs the vent run, the hood flap sticks, or the hose behind the dryer is crushed against the wall. Heat builds instead of moving, so clothes stay damp. We clear the path and confirm the exhaust temperature is right.
Can a power surge really kill a dryer?
Yes. Storm season here takes out control boards and relays on electronic models. The dryer may go dead, ignore buttons, or start a cycle and quit. We test the board and the incoming power before replacing anything, since a bad outlet leg mimics the same thing.
Is a gas dryer safe to keep using if it smells odd?
Stop using it and call. A hot or scorched smell often means lint near the burner or a restricted vent. If you smell gas, shut the supply valve, leave the house, and contact your gas utility first. Then reach us.
Should I repair or replace an older dryer?
Depends on the failure. Belts, rollers, thermostats, and fuses are common wear parts on machines that otherwise run fine. A cracked drum or a burnt main harness on a very old unit is a different conversation. We tell you which one you have.
How long does a typical dryer visit take?
Most diagnoses take part of an hour. If the failed part is a common one we carry, the repair often finishes the same visit. Specialty boards and drums may need ordering, and we'll say so plainly before you commit to anything.
Do you work on stacked and combo units?
We do. Stacked laundry centers and washer-dryer combos need extra care getting to the back panel, so we plan for the space. Tell us the setup and any closet or door limits when you call so we arrive ready.

Why homeowners call us
- Storm-season surge damageLightning and blinking power hurt control boards. An oven that lights up but won't heat, a washer that dies mid-cycle. We test boards and wiring before replacing anything, so you know what the surge actually took out.
- Clay dust and lintRed clay dust and lint choke dryer vents and condenser coils. Long dry times, hot laundry rooms, fridges running nonstop. We check airflow every visit, because a clogged vent kills a good machine slowly.
- Straight talk, no runaroundWe say what's wrong and what it takes to fix. If a machine is worn past sense, we say that too. You decide. No pressure, no jargon, no upsell dressed up as advice.
- Independent and localWe're a Nashville crew, not a call center. We repair all major brands as an independent shop. You reach real people, and the person who answers knows the roads we drive.
- All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
- Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
